This month marks the 25th anniversary of Graham Auctions! Over this period of time, we have gone from a modest public auction in Calgary to one of the largest, most diverse auction companies in Western Canada.
“We’ve been very fortunate to have a loyal customer base and a dedicated staff. We are here today because of the ongoing support of our customers, hard work from our team and the community like culture at Graham Auctions. They are the core of our business, and we place great value on the people that are a part of it.” -General Manager, Mike Orechow
A look at where we started, what we have accomplished, and our plans for the future.
Founder and President, Larry Graham got his start in the auction industry with MacLean’s Livestock Auction in Calgary, Alberta at age 15. It was the friendly people and the exciting atmosphere that helped him develop his passion for the industry.
So how do you become an auctioneer? The first step for most is attending Auction School. The craft of the auctioneer is a learned and practiced set of skills. Auctioneers aren't only talking fast. They're following a conversational rhythmic pattern of numbers in order based on attendees' bids. In the following years, Larry attended the Western College of Auctioneering in Montana.
After selling Regal Auction, he bought the Western Canadian School of Auctioneering in 1990. He taught hundreds of aspiring auctioneers everything there is to know about being an auctioneer.
First they learned the basics such as engaging potential buyers or keeping track of the auction count in real-time. Once ready, they covered more advanced skills like controlling their breath to maintain pace over longer periods of time.
Larry’s path in the auction industry led him to start Regal Auctions in 1985. He operated Regal Auctions in Calgary for the following four years before selling the company in 1989 to pursue a passion project.
In August of 1995, Larry and his wife Linda founded Graham Auctions. It began as a public auction specializing in vehicles, heavy equipment, tools and general consignment. As Graham Auctions continued to grow, it became a bit too busy to run both the auction school and a local auction company. After 10 years, they began to get so busy that they chose to sell the auction school and focus on Graham Auctions.
Since we opened up our doors, we have made it a priority to do everything we can to support local charities and social causes to give back to those in need.
Here are some of the amazing organizations we have supported over the years:
We also make regular donations to independent families in their time of need. Over the past 25 years we have supported our community through our dedicated charity fund.
In honor of Graham Auctions 25th anniversary, we wanted to thank you all for your continued support! Going forward, we aim to continue helping you find a ton of value and great deals through our internet auctions.
Our goal in the next chapter for Graham Auctions is to proceed on our path as a leader in our industry. Our focus will be on providing quality services and a positive customer experience.
We are very grateful to everyone who has been a part of our journey here.
Following the recommended best health practices during the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure safety during these strange times are more critical than ever, which for us means we need to adapt the way we conduct our Online Auctions.
We are currently taking all steps to go cashless. We pivoted to online-only auctions a few weeks back, and are now offering CURBSIDE PICKUP to our customers during our regular business hours after the auction has concluded.
One tidbit of good news — The online bidding process will remain the same for all auction customers. You can bid from the convenience of your home on your desktop or mobile device on thousands of quality products, as always.
You will receive an email confirmation of the auction lots you won shortly after the online auction time has ended.
We will process payments via credit card on Monday at 8:00 AM. If you'd prefer to use another method of payment, we are now accepting Interac e-Transfers (Email Money Transfer) to email@example.com.
(Please set the password: "graham" before 8:00 AM on Monday if you wish to use this method.)
Alternatively, we can have an employee put on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE — Respiratory Mask and Latex Gloves) to meet you curbside in front of our Main Office for payment via cash/debit/credit.
If you have a printed copy of your paid receipt, you may proceed directly to the line of vehicles to head to the Auction Warehouse. If you haven't printed a copy of your receipt, you can also present your digital receipt. If you require a printed copy of your receipt, we'd be happy to do so for you — Upon your arrival, just give us a call in our Main Office at , and we will then send a printed copy directly to the auction house so you may proceed with your Curbside Pickup. All of our staff members are fully equipped with mandatory PPE (Masks, Gloves) to help ensure your safety.
Last but not least...
On behalf of ownership and the entire team at Graham Auctions — We'd like to sincerely thank you for your ongoing support during these strange times. We are taking these steps to be absolutely certain that we're able to serve safely and efficiently going forward.
We understand that the pickup of your auction items may be longer than usual while we work out the kinks with our new operating procedures. We appreciate your patience while we continue to adapt, and we will do our absolute best to make the process move as quickly as possible.

To the customers of Graham Auctions,
In light of the global health concerns of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), we would like to send a message regarding the precautionary/preventive steps we are taking in response to the outbreak.
The Public Health Agency of Canada continues to assess the risk and has stated the possibility of contracting the virus in our area remains low. Regardless, we take the health and safety of both our customers and employees very seriously. We want to make our guests aware that we have increased our workplace hygiene and sanitization processes. We want to assure you we’re continuing to take the necessary steps outlined by Alberta Health Services to safeguard our guests.
Our workplace hygiene and cleaning routines are as follows:
We would also like to reiterate the necessary steps you can take to maintain the safety of both yourself and others:
If you or someone you’ve been in contact with have recently travelled outside of Canada, Alberta Health Services advises you to watch for symptoms like fever, cough or shortness of breath in yourself or family members and call Health Link 811 at the first sign of symptoms.
If you or a member of your family/household has been advised by Alberta Health/HealthLink to self-isolate and obtain COVID-19 testing, remain at home and follow self-isolation guidelines. We will have a particular area to hold purchases for anyone that has notified us that they are under 14-day isolation.
Graham Auctions will maintain our regular business hours and is scheduled to proceed with Saturday’s auction. We will continue to stay up-to-date with all the information released by the Public Health Agency of Canada and Alberta Health Services concerning COVID-19.
Thank you for your patience during this unprecedented situation, and stay safe.
